Storytelling and Puppetry

Storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to teach young children.

and so we sing……..

Mother of the fairy tale, take me to your shining land. Sail me in your silver boat, sail me silently afloat.

Once upon a time, it was and yet it wasn't...........

My name is Celia Riahi and I am a long time Waldorf early childhood teacher, a self-taught craftswoman and artist. I remember even as a little girl, I loved making things with my hands. My very first project was an Octopus, from a yarn kit that someone gave me when I was about 5 years old. I went on to paint, make silver jewelry, some cloisonné enameling, I love to sew and I love to felt. My daughter had many very original Halloween costumes growing up. A long time ago, a parent, in my kindergarten class, gave me my first felting needle and I have to admit that it sat for about a year until I discovered what it was for. Well I was soon hooked! It was so much fun to discover all the things I could make with some wool and this unusual, very sharp, needle.  I learned quickly how to make many things and used them for many years in my Waldorf classroom and now at home in The Cottage Garden, my Waldorf home day care program. Friends have always encouraged me to share my creativity. I have given many craft workshops over the years and it is finally time for a website. Hope you will enjoy perusing all the things I love to make that enhance the stories I love to tell and the festivals I love to celebrate.

Enjoy
